Captions

Synchronized text of speech and important sounds in video, for deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers.

Captions differ from subtitles: they include non-speech audio (e.g. “[door slams]”) and speaker labels. Prerecorded video needs accurate, synchronized captions under WCAG 1.2.2; auto-captions usually need correcting.
