Accessibility glossary

axe-core

The widely used open-source accessibility testing engine that powers many scanners, including ours.

axe-core runs a battery of automated checks against the rendered DOM and reports machine-detectable WCAG violations. It’s built into many browser extensions and CI pipelines, and underpins Google Lighthouse’s accessibility audit.

Like all automation, it catches roughly 30–50% of issues — necessary, not sufficient.
